Market Real Estate specializes in selling inherited properties. Oftentimes our clients have a quite a project on their hands. One of their biggest concerns is what to do with the contents in the home. Similarly, longtime owners of properties, those moving out of state, and those downsizing or moving to assisted living share the same concerns! Everyone’s first thought is to hire an estate sale company. This can prove to worthwhile if the quality and quantity of the contents is significant. More often than not, another solution is in order.
Let’s face it, the family members get the pick of the litter when someone is offering up furniture, home decor, art, silver, and other household goods. Many times there is not a lot of valuable stuff leftover to sell at an estate sale. That said, we still need to remove the contents so the home can be sold. Even after an estate sale, there is still need to get rid of the junk, and that costs money! Furthermore, getting these items out of the house is important. A vacant home is easier to clean, paint, and improve. It also allows a stager to come in and freshen up the look of the home with modern furnishings and decor.
A Liquidator is a great resource for those looking to remove contents from a home. Liquidators take the good, the bad, and the ugly. They’ll even sweep up the home on the way out the door. I’ve also had Liquidators take down the old drapes and window coverings. When you hire a Liquidator you don’t have to worry about getting a dumpster for trash or spending the time filling it. That can be countless man hours. You also avoid trips to the Goodwill Donation Center, where they’ve been not to reject a lot items.
After bidding the job Liquidators remove the contents in a matter of a day or two. A property owner will make money if there are valuable items to offset the the disposal costs of the non valuable items. That said, sometimes it can cost $500 to $1500 to remove homes where there are not enough value items to offset the junk and trash. It put this is perspective, one large dumpster is at least $1,000, and you still have to fill it! Any items that can be of use will be sold or donated… Don’t worry, useful things will find a good home.
